The official opening of our new Sensory Gym on Monday evening was a momentous occasion for Scoil Carmel. It was lovely to see so many staff and parents in attendance. This is indicative of the ongoing support we have in Scoil Carmel. It is a state of the art Sensory Gym which will be a magnificent asset to our school.
As principal of Scoil Carmel I am very grateful to everyone who has been an integral part of our journey to inclusion over the last few years. Parents are always very supportive of Scoil Carmel in giving of their time and helping with fundraising activities. We are blessed to have a very active and strong Parents Association. We are very grateful for the time and effort they put in to supporting the education and wellbeing of all our pupils.
The opening of the Sensory Gym wouldn’t have happened without the superb work of our Deputy Principal Ms Maria Jones. Ms Jones has put a huge amount of time and effort into the establishment of this space. Ms Fitzmaurice was the first teacher to teach in our ASD Class and she has been very supportive too in overseeing the installation of a sensory room in Room 28. Our ISM team provide great support too. Ms Tynan oversaw the initial fundraising sponsored walk in 2021 and has overseen the introduction of sensory resources in the school also. We are grateful to the BoM, the PA and all the wonderful staff. We are blessed in Scoil Carmel to have a wonderful team of teachers, SNAs, caretaker and secretary. Thank you to everyone who supported this initiative. Your support and contribution has ensured that Scoil Carmel’s vision of opening a sensory room has now become a reality with a fabulous Sensory Gym.
